Where do we begin?
Music is like a language. If you want to communicate freely, musically speaking, then it is important that you learn how to:
Read
Write
Listen
Perform
Improvise
Practice the above
For example, if you know how to read or write music but cannot perform in front of others, then you'd be limited in your ability to express yourself. That said, we will always follow the lead of the student, offering our guidance along the way. We are here to teach you what you want to learn, not just what we feel you need to.
What do cracking piano lessons look like?
Lessons with a thoughtful, caring and patient approach in the right location
Piano lessons that are the right price (cheap isn't always good!)
Piano lessons that give you the tools to solve problems and practice at home
Lessons that help you to achieve your goals and guide you as to how you can make new ones (in the short and long term)
Piano lessons that balance the above aspects of musicianship whilst teaching you music that you enjoy
Our piano lessons deliver on all of the above. The piano courses will improve all of these skills and more. Our piano schools in Bristol and Brighton & Hove are full of piano teachers with a friendly nature and mountains of musical ability. We will always aim to teach you what you want, whilst giving you the skills you need.

Yes. We have piano teachers in suburbs across Bristol and Brighton & Hove and Manchester. If you live in another part of the UK or the world, do not despair. We have an excellent online piano tuition service and can teach you from anywhere. Our students have been learning in cities across the world from New York to Singapore.
What’s the right age to learn piano?
For younger students, the earliest age we’d start is 3 but all children are different. As a general rule, young children learn to play the piano slower than those who are over 9 years old. Kids will need to be able to recognise the letters A-G and count to 10. As far as adult learners are concerned, it is never too late for you to learn how to play the piano. Adults generally learn faster than kids. Learning the piano as an adult is no harder than learning the ropes in a new job role or using a new phone. Within ten lessons, we can guarantee you that a beginner could learn how to improvise a 12 bar blues. The oldest student we have taught was 96 and that worked wonderfully. As a rough guide, we could safely say that a piano student needs to be between the ages of 3 and 139. ;0)
I don't have the time to learn how to play piano music. How can I fit it in?
To begin with, you will only need to practice as long as it takes to brush your teeth. Fast forward 2 months and you will be able to play the piano. You don't have to take any lessons after the FREE 1st piano lesson. However, we are very confident that you will.
Can I learn how to play anything I want?
Yes. They are your piano lessons. You decide what you'd like to learn to play with our guidance. We designed our piano courses to provide you with a great structure for your learning. They give a beginner the skills needed to be a well-rounded piano player. The ABRSM syllabuses are great for this too. We have a 100% pass rate in these. If the student has another goal in mind, then we will happily follow their lead and teach anything from obscure jazz songs to a Disney medley.
Will my piano teacher be a grumpy ogre?
Most certainly not. We only work with friendly and thoughtful piano teachers. We take a great amount of time and care to choose who we work with. Although we will happily teach any grumpy youngsters or even older grumpsters, your Head Teacher will be on hand to oversee your tuition assisting you and your teacher with their wealth of wisdom. Besides this, if you ever found yourself in a position where you weren’t gelling with your piano teacher, we can arrange a switch at the end of a booking. Remember the 1st lesson is free. You can meet and then decide after the lesson whether they are the right one for you.
Which piano lessons are right for me?
Children's piano lessons are designed for very young piano students who are beginners. Toddlers from the age of 3 up to kids who are aged 8 or 9. The other piano lessons are for students, who are over 8 or 9 years old; however, which route you choose is dependent on your experience.

What do our piano students say?
"The Beginners Piano Course is so carefully designed."
"I've learned to play the blues, how to improvise, about piano technique and I've written a song. It's only been 15 lessons. Kevin is so good at explaining the pieces that even if I get stuck I know that at the next piano lesson the problem will be solved."
- Ambrosia, Bristol
"I am so lucky to have found a teacher with his expertise and great personality."
"As a 42 year old man with a history of health problems and an ambition to play the piano, it was a delight to find Jamie. He is patient, explains everything clearly and gives you tips to remember how to read music. On my first lesson I got such a friendly welcome and I felt at ease and less nervous immediately. I cannot recommend Jamie enough."
- Mark, Brighton & Hove
"Two more pianists blossoming as I type."
"My two children have recently started the piano lessons, adore the games and find it really fun. They are hooked!l - Thank you!"
- Emma, Bristol
